NAGPUR: Shantinagar police have registered a cheating case against a man for allegedly defrauding a 63-year-old businessman of ₹27.52 lakh by taking possession of his truck after securing its release from a finance company.

According to the police, the complainant, Kailash Yadav (63), owned a truck bearing registration number MH-49-AT-2770, which had been sealed by IndusInd Finance Bank. The accused, Akash Bose, allegedly entered into an arrangement with Yadav to get the vehicle released from the finance company.

As part of the deal, Bose reportedly took ₹20 lakh from Yadav and subsequently secured the release of the truck. However, instead of returning the vehicle to its rightful owner, he allegedly retained it for his personal use and failed to pay any compensation to the complainant.

Despite repeated demands, Bose allegedly neither returned the truck nor settled the amount, causing Yadav a total financial loss of ₹27,52,054.

Following the complaint, Shantinagar police registered a case under Sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on October 30. Further investigation is underway.
