Nagpur: A 41-year-old bank employee allegedly strangled his wife to death following a heated argument over dinner in Sai Nagar’s Govind City under the Mankapur police station limits. The incident took place on Wednesday night, following which Mankapur police arrested the accused and registered a murder case.
The accused has been identified as Krishnakant Yadav (41), while the deceased was his wife, Yamini Yadav (38). The couple has two children.
According to police, Krishnakant returned home in an allegedly intoxicated condition on Wednesday night and asked Yamini to serve him food. Upset that he had returned home drunk, Yamini questioned him, leading to an argument between the couple.
The argument escalated, and Krishnakant allegedly assaulted Yamini. When she resisted, he reportedly pushed her, causing her to fall on the bed. He then allegedly strangled her. After Yamini became unconscious, Krishnakant took her to a private hospital, where doctors declared her dead and informed the police.
Mankapur police initially registered a case of accidental death. However, the post-mortem report received on Thursday confirmed that Yamini had died due to strangulation.
Following the findings, police registered a murder case against Krishnakant and arrested him. Further investigation is underway.
