Nagpur Crime Branch Seizes Ganja, One Arrested in Yashodhara Nagar Drug Bust

Nagpur: The Anti-Burglary Squad of the Nagpur Crime Branch arrested a 40-year-old man and seized ganja, cash, and a mobile phone collectively valued at over Rs 37,000 during a combing operation conducted in the Yashodhara Nagar area.


According to police, the raid was conducted between 8:30 pm and 11:35 pm on May 6 based on specific intelligence inputs. Acting on the information, Crime Branch officials raided the residence of accused Sheikh Adil Sheikh Karim at Wanjra Layout, MHADA Quarters, Bilal Nagar, Ajni-Majri area under the jurisdiction of Yashodhara Nagar Police Station.


During the search, police recovered 190 grams of ganja from his possession. Officials also seized cash amounting to Rs 23,471 and one mobile phone. The total value of the seized property has been estimated at Rs 37,271.


During interrogation, the accused allegedly told police that he had procured the cannabis with the help of wanted accused Atiq Khan, a resident of Naka No. 2 on Kamthi Road.


Police said the accused was found possessing the banned substance for illegal sale and personal financial gain.


A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(A), and 29 of the NDPS Act at Yashodhara Nagar Police Station. The accused has been arrested and handed over to local police along with the seized material.

Police said efforts are underway to trace the absconding co-accused and further investigation is in progress.


The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal and senior officers of the Nagpur Crime Branch. The raid was led by Police Inspector Dilip Chandan and his team.
