Nagpur: Acting on a tip-off, the Nagpur Crime Branch Unit 5 apprehended a wanted criminal, Salig alias Rehan Irani (27), from Madhya Pradesh, on January 10. Irani, a resident of Bhopal, carried a bounty of ₹50,000 and was involved in 14 cases, including armed robbery and unlawful assembly, across Madhya Pradesh.
The Crime Branch intercepted Irani while he was traveling from Bhopal to Hyderabad via Hansa Travels. During questioning, Irani confessed to crimes reported in police stations across Madhya Pradesh, including Gandhi Nagar, Habibganj, Ayodhya Nagar, and others. His offenses ranged from robbery to obstructing government work and culpable homicide under IPC Section 304.
The operation, led by PI Rahul Shire under the guidance of Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, showcased excellent coordination by officers, including Chandrashekhar Gautam, Rupesh Nanawtkar, and the Cyber Unit team. Irani has been handed over to Madhya Pradesh authorities for further investigation.
