Mumbai: Several parts of Maharashtra are likely to witness thunderstorms, rain, lightning and possible hailstorms between April 20 and April 22, according to the latest weather forecast.
The alert covers parts of Western Maharashtra, especially the ghat regions, along with Khandesh, Marathwada and sections of Vidarbha. Authorities have warned that afternoon cloud development may lead to unstable weather conditions during the three-day period.
Thunderstorm Forecast for Maharashtra
As per the current forecast:
- April 19: Isolated thunderstorm activity is likely in the ghat areas of Western Maharashtra, parts of North Khandesh and South Marathwada.
- April 20 and 21: Rain activity is expected to intensify and spread further across the state. Areas likely to be affected include:
- Western Maharashtra, including the Pune division
- Marathwada, especially southern districts and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division
- Vidarbha, mainly the Amravati division
- April 22: Weather activity is expected to weaken, with a reduction in both rainfall coverage and intensity.
Officials said lightning strikes, gusty winds, rainfall and isolated hailstorms cannot be ruled out in some locations.
Farmers Advised to Take Precautionary Measures
The Agriculture Department has appealed to farmers to remain alert and take immediate preventive steps in view of the changing weather conditions.

- Store harvested crops in safe places.
- Cover produce with tarpaulin or protective sheets.
- Take precautions to prevent crop damage from strong winds, rain and possible hailstorms.

With pre-monsoon weather activity increasing, residents in affected districts have been advised to monitor local forecasts and remain cautious during afternoon and evening hours when thunderstorm activity is more likely.
