Nagpur: Kotwali Police have registered a burglary case after unidentified thieves broke into a house and decamped with gold ornaments worth over Rs 2.37 lakh in central Nagpur.
The incident occurred between 10.30 pm on February 28 and 10.45 am on March 1, 2026, at a residence located at Plot No. 21, Manipura Chowk, near Gangabai Ghat and Amrit Hardware.
Complainant Laxmibai Jageshwar Chamatkar (66) had locked her house and gone to her son-in-law’s residence in Diamond Nagar, Nandanvan. During her absence, unknown accused allegedly broke the iron grill lock, entered the house, and stole 128 grams of gold ornaments from an iron cupboard in the bedroom.
Following her complaint, Kotwali Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita pertaining to house-breaking and theft. Efforts are underway to trace the accused.
