Nagpur: In a major step towards energy self-sufficiency, Vardhaan Lithium (I) Pvt. Ltd. is set to establish India’s first lithium refinery and battery manufacturing plant in Additional Butibori, Nagpur. The ambitious project, backed by a massive investment of Rs. 42,532 crore, aims to transform India’s energy landscape and reduce its dependence on lithium imports.
Spanning 500 acres, the state-of-the-art facility will have an annual lithium refining capacity of 60,000 tonnes and a battery production capability of 20 GWh. This move is expected to play a pivotal role in powering India’s electric vehicles, homes, and industries. Work on the project will commence later this year following the Bhumi Pujan ceremony.
