Farmer Dies of Electrocution in Hingna Field Accident

Nagpur: A 78-year-old farmer died after accidentally coming in contact with a live electric wire set up around his field to protect crops from wild animals in Kanholibara village under Hingna police limits.


According to police, the deceased has been identified as Devidas Haribhau Dhawane (78), a resident of Kanholibara, Hingna tehsil. On October 22, Dhawane was walking through his farm when he accidentally touched the electric fencing wire and suffered a severe shock, losing consciousness on the spot.


He was rushed to AIIMS Hospital, Nagpur, for treatment but was declared dead by doctors around 4:42 am on October 23.


Following a complaint lodged by Usha Shardarao Urkude (31), a resident of Bhugaon, Selu, District Wardha, a case of accidental death has been registered at Hingna Police Station by PSI Rathod. Further investigation is on.
