Externed Criminal Arrested by Wadi Police While Attempting to Re-Enter City Limits

Nagpur: Wadi Police arrested a 39-year-old externed criminal who was found roaming suspiciously within the police station limits, allegedly with the intention of committing a crime.


On December 2, around 11.45 am, a patrolling team received a tip-off and reached the area near the Zilla Parishad Upper Primary School at Control Wadi. On spotting the police, the suspect tried to flee but was caught after a brief chase.


The accused identified himself as Suraj alias Musa Moreswar Wankhede, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar, Wadi. A background check revealed that he had been externed from Nagpur city and rural jurisdictions for two years under orders issued on November 28, 2024, by the DCP Zone 1. Despite this, he had re-entered the limits without permission, violating the externment order.


A case under Sections 142 and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act has been registered at Wadi Police Station and the accused has been arrested. Further investigation is in progress.


The action was carried out under the supervision of Additional CP (South Region) Shivajirao Rathod, DCP (Zone 1) S Rushikesh Reddy, and ACP (MIDC Division) Satishkumar Gurav. The team included PI Rajesh Tatkare, PSI Saiprasad Kendre, and constables Someshwar Wardhe and Ajay Patil.
