Crime Branch’s Vehicle Theft Squad Busts Bike Theft Racket in Nagpur; Three Stolen Two-Wheelers Seized

Nagpur: The Vehicle Theft Squad of the Crime Branch has cracked a two-wheeler theft case under Wathoda Police Station limits, arresting two accused and recovering three stolen vehicles collectively valued at Rs 1.5 lakh.


According to police, between 11.30 pm on February 1, 2022, and 12.30 pm on February 2, 2022, complainant Imran Samiullah Khan (33), a resident of Saibaba Nagar near Bamleshwari Temple in Nagpur, had parked and locked his Honda Dio (MH-31-EZ-4451) worth Rs 50,000 outside his residence. An unidentified accused allegedly stole the vehicle. A case was registered at Wathoda Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.


During parallel investigations, the Crime Branch’s Vehicle Theft Squad conducted a technical probe and acted on specific intelligence to detain two suspects — Rishabh Shyamsundar Asopa (32) and Ritik Shyamsundar Asopa (22), both residents of Sant Guru Apartment near HB Town, Pardi, Nagpur. Upon interrogation, the duo confessed to stealing the said vehicle.


Further questioning revealed their involvement in two additional vehicle thefts — an Activa (MH-49-S-8613) from Sitabuldi Police Station limits and another Activa (MH-31-EZ-0282) from Hudkeshwar Police Station limits. Police have seized all three stolen two-wheelers.


The accused have been handed over to Wathoda Police for further legal action. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Abhijeet Patil.
