Nagpur: Acting on a tip-off, the NDPS Squad of Crime Branch raided a matka gambling den near NIT Garden in Darshan Colony, Nandanvan, and arrested 18 individuals involved in illegal betting activities.

The arrested include Akshay Prakash Shende (34), Javed Hakim Sheikh (40) of Sadbhavana Nagar, and 16 others. Police said the accused attempted to flee during the raid but were quickly surrounded and apprehended.

The team seized ₹32,000 in cash, 11 mobile phones, and a two-wheeler, collectively worth ₹3.42 lakh. A case has been registered at Nandanvan police station.

The accused were later paraded in the locality to deter others from engaging in similar illegal gambling activities.
