Burglary at railway quarters: Jewellery worth ₹9.84 lakh stolen during Diwali vacation

Nagpur: Burglars targeted a locked railway quarter in the Guard Line area near Ram Jhula and decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth ₹9.84 lakh while the family was away for Diwali celebrations.


According to police, complainant Rinkukumar Vinod Singh (29), a resident of Railway Quarter No. 18, Guard Line, Railway Colony, Ram Jhula, had locked his house and gone to his native place in Chhattisgarh along with his family between October 23 and October 26. During this period, unidentified burglars broke the main door lock and latch and entered the house.


The intruders ransacked the cupboards and stole gold and silver ornaments valued at approximately ₹9,84,000.


Based on Singh’s complaint, PSI Rane of Tehsil Police Station registered a case against unidentified accused under Sections 305(a), 331(3), and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police have launched a probe to trace the culprits.
