Nagpur: A 19-year-old woman and her family members were allegedly assaulted by four men after they learned about her engagement, in a shocking incident reported from the Lakadganj area on Friday.

The accused have been identified as Sameer Rajput, Ajay Rajput, Deepak Rajput, and Dillu Rajput. According to police, the four visited the victim’s residence on October 11, hurled abuses, and threatened to stop her wedding. When the woman’s mother and brother tried to intervene, they were beaten up.

As the victim’s mother proceeded to Lakadganj police station to lodge a complaint, the accused reportedly pelted stones at her, leaving her injured. She was later admitted to Mayo Hospital for treatment.

Based on the complaint, Lakadganj police have registered a case of assault, criminal intimidation, and rioting against the accused. Further investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the attack.
