40-Year-Old Man Dies After Allegedly Consuming Poison in Kalamna

Nagpur: A 40-year-old man from Kalamna in Nagpur died during treatment after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance under unexplained circumstances, police said.


The deceased, identified as Manoj Shantaram Katekar (40), was a resident of Mini Mata Nagar near Rajiv Gandhi School in Gali No. 5 within the Kalamna police station limits.


According to police, around noon on June 27, Katekar allegedly consumed an unidentified poisonous substance at his residence for reasons yet to be determined. His health deteriorated, following which he was rushed to Mayo Hospital for treatment.


However, despite medical efforts, doctors declared him dead at around 8.35 am on June 29.


Based on the medical intimation received from the hospital, Kalamna Police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the incident. Further probe is underway.
