NAGPUR: A truck driver has been booked for allegedly stealing 35.330 metric tonnes of scrap worth ₹16.62 lakh that was loaded onto a 16-wheeler truck for transportation from the Koradi Thermal Power Station to Punjab.

According to the complaint, Yograj Natthuji Thakare, 40, a resident of Radhakrishna Nagar on Tarsa Road in Kanhan, works as a site in-charge at Unit 7 of the 210 MW section of Koradi Thermal Power Station.

On October 12, 2026, at around 10.30 pm, scrap material weighing 35.330 metric tonnes and valued at ₹16,62,657 was loaded onto a truck bearing registration number WB 29 C 1965. The consignment was entrusted to the driver, identified as S. K. Anishul, a resident of Dighasipura, Chakkaswipa, Bhawanipur, in West Bengal’s Medinipur district, for delivery to Punjab.

The complainant subsequently approached the police on October 31. Based on his complaint, Koradi Police registered a case against the truck driver under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), pertaining to theft.
