Nagpur: A leopard that had been causing panic among residents on the outskirts of Nagpur was successfully captured by forest officials in Koradi Colony during an early-morning operation on Friday, December 6.
The feline had been spotted multiple times in the area over the past few weeks, prompting locals to alert authorities about the growing threat to their safety. Responding to the concerns, forest officials conducted an extensive operation and managed to trap the leopard without any harm.
According to officials, the leopard is believed to have wandered into the colony from a nearby forested area in search of food. It will be relocated to a safer habitat following a medical examination to ensure it poses no further risk to human settlements.
Residents expressed relief after the successful capture, thanking the forest department for their swift action. However, authorities have advised the public to remain cautious and avoid venturing into areas bordering forests, particularly during the early hours.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenge of human-wildlife conflict in regions like Nagpur, where urban expansion encroaches on wildlife habitats.
