Nagpur: Gondia witnessed a tragic accident involving a Shivshahi bus, resulting in the death of at least eight passengers, while several others sustained critical injuries on Friday, November 29. Rescue operations are ongoing, and authorities fear the death toll may rise.
The accident occurred near Khajri and Davwa villages in Sadak Arjuni taluka, Gondia district. The bus, en route from Nagpur to Gondia, overturned under unclear circumstances. So far, the rescue teams have recovered 7-8 bodies from the site, with local police and administrative officials actively managing the situation.
Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, has expressed his condolences and instructed the transport department to provide immediate financial assistance of ₹10 lakh to the families of the deceased. Additionally, Shinde has directed the local administration to ensure prompt and adequate medical treatment for the injured.
The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and further investigations are underway.
