Operation Thunder: Youth Held with MD Powder in Kalamna

Nagpur: In a major action under the citywide anti-narcotics campaign “Operation Thunder,” the Kalamna Police arrested a 23-year-old accused found in possession of MD drug powder and other materials worth ₹3,61,000 during early morning patrolling on Saturday.


According to police, on December 6, 2025, between 4:00 am and 6:15 am, a patrolling team from Kalamna Police Station spotted Kadir alias Baba Zakir Khan, a known offender in the police record, near Shitala Mata Temple at Gulshan Nagar. When signaled to stop, the accused attempted to escape on a two-wheeler. The police chased and detained him near the Gulshan Nagar tunnel area.


During a search conducted in the presence of panch witnesses, officers recovered 25.10 grams of MD powder concealed in the pocket of his black jacket. The team also seized two mobile phones and a Unicorn motorcycle (MH-31-AK-6149), taking the total seizure value to ₹3,61,000. The accused admitted to possessing the contraband to sell it for personal financial gain.


A case has been registered under Sections 8(A), 22(B) of the NDPS Act, and the accused has been taken into custody. Further investigation is underway to trace the drug supply network and other links.


The action was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Ravindra Kumar Singal, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur, Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy, Additional CP (South Region) Shivajirao Rathod, DCP (Zone 5) Niketan Kadam, and ACP (Kalamna Division) Rohit Owhal. The team included PI Pravin Kale, PI Ganesh Dhumal, PSI Shashikant Musale, HC Pramod Kangale, Vishal Bhaisare, PC Nitin Mishra, Lalit Shende, Avinash Gwalbanshi, and Ajay Gatlewar.
