Nagpur: As cricket fever grips Nagpur ahead of the India vs England One Day International (ODI) match, black marketeers are exploiting fans eager to witness the match. Despite the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) selling tickets exclusively online to curb black marketing, tickets sold out within minutes, leading to fraudulent activities and exorbitant resale prices.

In a recent incident, Pravin Shende, a resident of Hingna, became a victim of a ticket scam. He was approached by two youths offering ₹800 tickets for ₹2,000 each. Shende requested four tickets and paid a ₹500 advance. The fraudsters then scanned ₹3,000 from his account. One promised to return with the tickets while the other distracted Shende and fled.

When the duo did not return, Shende attempted to contact the number used during the transaction but was met with threats. He promptly informed the police stationed nearby. Upon contacting the suspects, the police were met with abusive language. A formal complaint was subsequently lodged by Shende.

Ticket Prices Skyrocket Amid Black Marketing:

Reports indicate that due to the immense demand, ticket prices have surged on the black market. Tickets originally priced at ₹1,000 are now being resold for as much as ₹4,000. Some individuals have allegedly booked tickets in advance solely for resale at inflated rates.
