Nagpur: A 21-year-old MBA student was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon inside Jade Leaf Café near Shankar Nagar Square on Monday, April 14 evening, over an old personal dispute. Sitabuldi police have registered a case of attempted murder against five youths, including two identified suspects.
The victim, Harshdeepsingh Manojsingh Rajput, a resident of Wadi, had previously been assaulted by the same group near Kadbi Square. The earlier incident had not been reported to the police due to the involvement of the parents from both sides, who had attempted to resolve the issue privately.
According to police sources, the ongoing conflict between Rajput and the accused had been simmering for over a year following a verbal argument among friends. On Monday, while Rajput was seated at the café, the accused—identified as Dakshu Yadav, Rushikesh Srivas, and three to four unidentified accomplices—approached him and initiated an argument which quickly escalated.
During the confrontation, one of the accused allegedly struck Rajput with a sharp weapon, causing panic among other customers present at the café. The victim was immediately taken for medical examination.
Sitabuldi police have launched a search operation for the accused, who are currently absconding. A case under relevant sections of the BNS, including attempt to murder, has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
