Nagpur: Ajni Police have registered a case against an undertrial prisoner for allegedly abusing police personnel, issuing threats, and obstructing government work while being escorted for medical treatment. The incident took place on March 20, 2025, between 10:00 am and 11:00 am at Government Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), Nagpur.
According to the complaint filed by Police Head Constable Kishor Wadibhasme from the Police Escort Cell, the accused, identified as Salman Khan Shamsher Khan (27), was brought from Nagpur Central Jail to the GMCH for treatment along with other undertrial prisoners under police escort.
During the visit, relatives and friends of the accused attempted to hand over food and other itemsto him. When the police personnel intervened and prohibited this, the medical examination was completed, and the accused was being taken back to Nagpur Central Jail near the hospital police chowki when he started abusing the cops, including a female police staff member.
The accused allegedly shouted expletives and threatened the police, saying, “Do you not know my record? You didn’t allow me to eat, take slippers, or meet my relatives. I will falsely implicate you in a case.” He then banged his own head against the chowki’s window frame two to three times in an apparent attempt to frame the police.
When the officers tried to restrain him, the accused continued shouting, attempted to snatch a female officer’s mobile phone, and created a scene, disrupting official duties.
Based on the complaint, Ajni Police registered a case against Salman Khan Shamsher Khan under Sections 221, 296, and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for obstructing police work, abusing officers, and attempting to create a false case.
Further investigation is underway.
