Nagpur Police Crack Down on Illegal Liquor, Drugs, and Weapons Before Holi

Nagpur: In a major pre-Holi crackdown, Nagpur City Police launched an extensive operation targeting illegal liquor, drugs, and weapons across all police station jurisdictions. The operation, conducted under the guidance of senior officials including the Commissioner of Police, Additional Commissioners, and Crime Branch officers, resulted in multiple arrests and significant seizures.


During the operation:


50 cases were registered under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, leading to action against 52 individuals and the seizure of ₹4,38,531worth of illegal liquor.


Four cases were filed under the NDPS Act, leading to the arrest of six individuals and the confiscation of ₹1,94,000 worth of MD powder and cannabis.


16 cases were registered under the Arms Act, with 16 suspects apprehended, and 16 iron weapons worth ₹5,600seized.


This intensive action was part of a city-wide operation aimed at ensuring law and order before Holi, which falls on March 14. Police have vowed to continue strict vigilance to prevent illegal activities during the festival.
