Nagpur: Prominent Muslim intellectuals from Nagpur have voiced strong support for ‘Operation Sindoor’, India’s recent strategic military action targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The community leaders asserted that India’s patience should not be mistaken for weakness and emphasised that sometimes limited military action becomes necessary to uphold peace.

Senior Advocate Firdos Mirza described the operation as a much-needed and timely response. “India has been contemplating a firm reaction for a long time. Now is the time to dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism. Not only should we target terror camps, but India must also consider asserting control over areas from where terrorism is being orchestrated. Pakistan has failed to suppress terrorist activities within its borders,” he said.

Noted Urdu poet and academic Dr. Sameer Kabir expressed sorrow over the loss of innocent lives in the recent Pahalgam terror attack and stated that India had shown immense restraint over the years. “Despite facing multiple terror strikes, we have always chosen the path of peace. But Pakistan and the terror groups it shelters must not take our decency for cowardice. If peace requires a show of strength, then so be it. Our intention is never war, but peace with dignity,” he explained.

Salim Ansari, executive committee member of Jama Masjid, Mominpura, and General Secretary of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, echoed similar sentiments. “Operation Sindoor has sent a clear message to the world: India’s fight is against terrorism, not against any nation or community. The strike specifically targeted terrorist hideouts and not civilian infrastructure. India has always promoted peaceful coexistence, but there’s a limit to tolerance. We hope this strong message helps bring long-term stability,” Ansari stated.

The collective stand from Nagpur’s Muslim community highlights a growing sentiment of unity against terrorism and support for national security initiatives, while still advocating for regional peace and stability.
