Nagpur: Sakkardara police have registered a case against a doctor and his associate for allegedly defrauding a 23-year-old student by promising her admission to a US university for a medical course. The accused have been identified as Dr. Atul Ramesh Ingole, 38, a resident of Shrikrishna Nagar, Hudkeshwar, and Venkata Reddy from Hyderabad.

According to police, Dr. Ingole operates a company named PeopleLink Placement Pvt. Ltd. in Reshimbagh, claiming to assist students in securing admission to medical courses abroad. Reddy, posing as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Columbus Center University Bailey in the United States, allegedly collaborated with Dr. Ingole to lure aspiring medical students.

In January 2023, the complainant, a 23-year-old student, approached Dr. Ingole, seeking admission to an MBBS program in the US. Dr. Ingole, with Reddy’s assistance, assured her of admission and collected Rs 21.35 lakh from her family. However, despite repeated follow-ups, the accused neither facilitated the admission nor returned the money. Instead, they offered evasive responses, citing university regulations as an excuse for the delay.

After two years of unfulfilled promises and frustration, the student, along with her family, approached Sakkardara police and lodged a complaint. Based on her account, a case of fraud was registered against both accused.

The police are investigating the matter further to determine the extent of the alleged fraudulent activities.
