Nagpur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Nagpur apprehended an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) from MIDC Police Station while accepting a ₹30,000 bribe here, on Thursday, March 27. The official allegedly demanded the bribe to refrain from taking legal action against a complainant in a fraud case under investigation.
Bribe Demand and Sting Operation:
According to ACB officials, the complainant, a 31-year-old resident of Nagpur, was being investigated by the accused officer, identified as ASI Ravindra Manohar Sakhare (54), regarding a fraud complaint. Following a verification process on March 26-27, the ACB set up a trap on March 27, 2025, during which Sakhare was caught red-handed accepting the bribe amount. The entire ₹30,000 was recovered from his possession.
