Nagpur: The highly anticipated final stretch of the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway, covering 76 kilometers between Igatpuri and Amane near Bhiwandi, is set to be completed by February 2025. Officials expect the full route to be operational by March, allowing seamless travel from Mumbai’s outskirts to Nagpur. This final phase will significantly cut travel time between the two cities and improve connectivity to key highways, including the Mumbai-Vadodara Expressway.
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has confirmed that lane marking and final finishing touches are in progress. With this last segment in place, motorists will be able to cover the entire 701-kilometer expressway without major diversions. However, concerns have been raised about the lack of essential roadside amenities like rest areas and food courts, which authorities may need to address.
Since its initiation in 2015, the Samruddhi Expressway has been developed in multiple phases, with the first segment inaugurated in December 2022. Once fully operational, the expressway is expected to enhance economic growth and trade by reducing travel duration and offering a high-speed corridor between Maharashtra’s two major cities.
