Nagpur: Jaripatka Police have apprehended a 42-year-old man, Kalpesh Shashikant Kakkad, a resident of Vini Classic Apartment, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Kandivali West, Mumbai, for allegedly sexually assaulting and cheating a 47-year-old woman.

The accused reportedly became acquainted with the complainant via Facebook, gained her trust, and got engaged to her by promising marriage. In January 2024, he visited her home and allegedly drugged her before forcefully establishing physical relations.

Further, by luring her with promises of profits in the stock market, he allegedly collected ₹12 lakh from her and her brother over time without offering any returns. He also allegedly threatened to circulate her photos and videos online and later refused to marry her.

Based on the complaint, police personnel under PSI Atram have registered a case under Sections 376, 376(2)(n), 328, and 420 of the Indian Penal Code and have arrested the accused. Further investigation is underway.
