Nagpur: A 51-year-old man riding a TVS Scooty was killed in a fatal hit-and-run accident on the Bhandara–Nagpur Highway near a petrol pump under Paradi Police Station limits on Sunday evening.

The victim, Mahadev Damodhar Pimpalghare, a resident of Gulshan Nagar, was on his way when a speeding Tata container truck (GJ 06 BT 0510) rammed his two-wheeler from behind and fled the spot. The accident occurred around 4.55 pm.

Locals rushed the seriously injured man to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead during treatment.

Based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s son-in-law Harish Anil Ninave (22), Paradi Police have registered a case against the unidentified truck driver under Sections 281, 106(1), 125(b) of the BNS and other relevant sections.

Police said efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver through technical analysis and highway CCTV footage.
