Gangajamuna Robbery Cracked: Nagpur Police Arrest 19-Year-Old Accused

Nagpur: The Lakadganj Police have successfully cracked a serious robbery case reported from the Gangajamuna area and arrested a 19-year-old accused involved in the crime.


The breakthrough was achieved under the guidance of senior officers of the Nagpur City Police, including the Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone III), and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Lakadganj Division. The operation was led by Senior Police Inspector Mukund Kawade, Crime Police Inspector Chaudhary, API Sheikh, and the Detection Branch (DB) team through intensive patrolling and intelligence-based investigation.


According to police, the incident occurred on June 8 on the stretch between Azamshah Chowk and Masurkar Chowk. Two unidentified assailants allegedly threatened the complainant with a knife and robbed him of cash before fleeing the spot. Based on the complaint, Lakadganj Police registered a case against unknown persons and formed a special investigation team to trace the culprits.


During the investigation, police relied on technical surveillance and confidential inputs gathered from the locality to identify the suspects. After sustained efforts, the team apprehended Abdul Arman Abdul Sameer (19), a resident of Sahyadri Apartment, behind Yadav Flour Mill, Jafar Nagar, under Gittikhadan police station limits in Nagpur. He has been arrested in connection with the robbery.


Police said efforts are underway to trace the second accused and recover the stolen property.


Officials highlighted that incidents involving the snatching of mobile phones, cash and valuables in the Gangajamuna area and adjoining localities have been a matter of concern. To curb such crimes, Nagpur Police have intensified patrolling, nakabandi operations and special search drives.


Senior Police Inspector Mukund Kawade stated that the city police remain committed to ensuring public safety and will continue taking stringent action against criminals involved in robbery, theft and other serious offences.
