Nagpur: Motorists traveling between Mumbai, Nashik, and Nagpur can look forward to a smoother and more efficient journey as the final 76-km stretch of the Samruddhi Mahamarg nears completion.
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has confirmed that this section, which connects Igatpuri in Nashik to Amane in Thane, is expected to be ready by August and could open to traffic in September 2024.
An MSRDC official stated, “Work on the 76-km stretch between Igatpuri and Thane is progressing quickly and should be completed by August. We anticipate it opening for traffic in September. However, a 2-km bridge on this stretch will take a bit longer and is expected to be finished by November-December. This delay will not affect overall traffic flow.”
Currently, the Samruddhi Mahamarg is operational from Nagpur to Igatpuri. Motorists traveling from Mumbai to Nagpur must use the old Mumbai-Nashik Highway up to Igatpuri before joining the Samruddhi Mahamarg. The completion of this new 76-km stretch will allow them to bypass the congested Kasara Ghat and the old Mumbai-Nashik Highway, significantly easing their journey.
Once fully operational, the Samruddhi Mahamarg will offer a seamless and faster route, enhancing connectivity between Mumbai, Nashik, and Nagpur. The improved infrastructure is expected to boost economic activity and reduce travel time for commuters. The final section’s completion marks a significant milestone in Maharashtra’s ongoing efforts to improve its road network.
