Nagpur: The Tehsil Police have cracked a robbery case involving a gang posing as police personnel to dupe a woman and steal gold ornaments worth ₹3,70,000 on New Itwari Road. One accused has been arrested through digital tracking, while four others remain wanted.

The incident took place on November 9, 2025, around 10:45 am, when complainant Mamta Nilam Dhadiwal (55) was walking near Amarkar Jewellers on New Itwari Road. Four unknown men were seen standing nearby, and three of them approached her claiming, “We are police officers. You should not walk wearing so much gold. We have been instructed by senior officers to check it.”

The accused, acting in coordination, convinced the woman to remove her 25-gram gold chain, 30-gram bangles, and a 5-gram ring, and place them in her purse for inspection. Using sleight of hand, the gang fled with the jewellery valued at ₹3,70,000. A case was registered against four unknown accused under Sections 319(2), 3(5) of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita at Tehsil Police Station.

During the investigation, police traced the suspects through technical analysis and found that the gang members are history-sheeters from Irani Galli, Shivaji Nagar, Parli Vaijnath, Beed district. A police team laid a trap and detained Baghar Gali Ahemad Ali (34). The arrested accused confessed to committing the crime with his accomplices identified as Nasir Ali, Hafiz Ali, Asadullah Abroo Ali, and Saklein Ali, all of whom are currently absconding.

Further investigation is underway to recover the stolen jewellery and arrest the remaining accused.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur, Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy, Additional CP (North) Rajendra Dabhade, DCP (Zone 3) Rahul Madne, and ACP (Kotwali Division) Anita More, with the team led by PI Sanjay Mende, PI Rahul Wadhave, and PSI Shekh Rasool.
