Nagpur: A 50-year-old woman has been booked by Dhantoli police for allegedly duping a senior citizen of ₹5.8 lakh on the pretext of providing jobs in Nagpur Metro Rail to known students through her political connections.

As per the complaint by Vandana Manoj Ingale (59), a resident of Usha Apartment, Surendranagar, Bajaj Nagar, the accused, identified as Pratibha Patil of Kunjilal Peth, Bhagwan Nagar, met her within the Dhantoli police station jurisdiction. Between November 1, 2022, and June 19, 2025, Pratibha allegedly convinced Vandana that she had strong political ties and could secure Metro jobs for some students known to the complainant.

Believing her, Vandana handed over ₹5.8 lakh. However, no jobs were arranged, and the accused neither returned the money nor responded, amounting to betrayal and financial fraud.

Based on Vandana’s complaint and subsequent inquiry, a case has been registered under Sections 318(4) and 316(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. PSI Jadhav is conducting further investigation.
