Nagpur: A Chinchbhavan resident, identified as Shailendra Patil, has been booked by Beltarodi Police for allegedly abusing and threatening to harm an MSEDCL (Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited) employee who visited his residence to collect overdue electricity bills.
The incident occurred on Saturday around 9:30 AM, when senior technician Ajay Nimbarthe from MSEDCL’s Somalwada branch visited Patil’s house in Chinchbhavan to request payment of pending electricity bills. Despite multiple requests, the customer reportedly refused to cooperate. When Nimbarthe proceeded to disconnect the electricity supply as per protocol, Patil allegedly obstructed him, hurled abusive language, and issued threats to break his limbs.
Following a complaint filed by Nimbarthe, the Beltarodi Police registered a case against Patil under Sections 221, 296, 351(1), and 351(3) of the BNS.
Authorities have stated that such incidents will not be tolerated and have urged citizens to cooperate with MSEDCL staff during official duties. Further investigations are underway.
